How do we know that Wittighausen was "born" in 1060? Well, it was first mentioned in a document on June 22, 1060, when King Henry IV (1056-1106) signed a certificate, in which he conveyed a huge area of land to Bishop Adalbero of Wuerzburg. It describes the area encompassing today's community of Wittighausen. The village of Unterwittighausen was mentioned in 1060 in  this official document, and in the year of 1243 there was mention of "Inferior Witegehusen" (Unterwittighausen), in contrast to "Wittingenhusen superior" (Oberwittighausen). Woher wissen wir, dass Wittighausen in 1060 "geboren" wurde? Nun, es wurde erstmals am 22. Juni 1060 erwaehnt, als König Heinrich IV. (reg. 1056-1106) in Corvey eine Urkunde unterschrieb, in der er Bischof Adalbero von Würzburg (Graf von Lambach, reg. 1045-1085) den Wildbann in einem riesigen Gebiet um die Stadt abtrat. Der Ort Unterwittighausen wurde im Jahre 1060 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und im Jahre 1243 wird erstmals „Inferior Witegehusen“ (Unterwittighausen) genannt, im Gegensatz zu „Wittingenhusen superior“ (Oberwittighausen). A decade ago, in 2010, the community of Wittighausen celebrated the 950th birthday in a huge way. Throughout the year we had celebrations with a large summer festival, parties, special church services, demos, kids activities, lectures, etc. Wittighausen (with a current population of around 1,630 in 12 square miles) consists of 4 small villages, Unterwittighausen, Oberwittighausen, Poppenhausen and Vilchband. As small as these villages are, they each have their own church, with Oberwittighausen sporting a second chapel that is famous for its rare octogonal architecture (only 3 in the area of Franconia). (My final art thesis in secondary school in Germany dealt with this chapel - and I got an A for it.)

Vor einem Jahrzehnt, in 2010, feierte die Gemeinde Wittighausen den 950. Geburtstag mit Festen, Kirchenfeiern, Umzuegen, Veranstaltungen, etc. Wittighausen hat ca. 1630 Einwohner und besteht aus 4 kleinen Doerfern: Unterwittighausen, Oberwittighausen, Poppenhausen und Vilchband. Natuerlich hat jedes Dort eine Kirche, und noch eine schoene Kapelle in Oberwittighausen, die sehr beruehmt ist, da sie nur eine von 3 oktogonalen Bauten in der Gegend ist. (Ich schrieb meine Abiturarbeit ueber die Sigismund-Kapelle - und bekam eine Eins.)

I was commissioned to paint large oil paintings of each of the 5 churches, which were then turned into postcards for sale. My parents were visiting me the year before here in Florida and were able to take the paintings with them in their suitcases, saving lots of shipping cost!, and since then the originals have been on display in the city hall in Unterwittighausen, steps from where I grew up.

Fuer das Fest wurde ich beauftragt, jede der 5 Kirchen in Oel festzuhalten. Diese Oelgemaelde wurden dann u.a. als Druckpostkarten verkauft. Meine Eltern besuchten mich im Jahr vorher in Florida and konnten dann die Gemaelde in ihren Koffern mitheimbringen, was sehr viel Porto sparte! Nun haengen die Bilder seither im Rathaus in Unterwittighausen!

My cousin Edgar Braun, who still lives in the area, is a graphic designer and publishes lots of small booklets about Wittighausen and its community. He did a whole publication about the festivities in 2010, here is the link. Check it out! (Unfortunately I couldn't visit during that year, so I missed all of the action! Also, disclaimer, the animal on page 27 is NOT native to our area...LOL).

Mein Cousin Edgar Braun, der noch in der Gegend wohnt, ist Grafik Designer und gibt viele Hefte heraus, die ueber Wittighausen und seine interessanten Einwohner, Gebauede und anderem erzaehlen. Er schrieb ein ganzes Buechlein ueber das Fest in 2010, hier kann man's anschauen. Leider konnte ich in dem Jahr Deutschland nicht besuchen, ich verpasste also die ganze Gaudi! Und als kleine Erklaerung fuer meine amerikanischen Freunde: das Tier auf Seite 27 ist nich heimisch... haha.

14th Annual Wekiva Paintout

Wow, it's been almost 5 months since my last report!
Wow, es sind fast 5 Monate seit meinem letzten Report!

A new year has started, I am teaching 4 classes currently at the Artists Workshop in NSB, coordinate the life drawing sessions, went to NYC for a great business trip with Austin, and continue to develop my pen and ink drawing style. So much has happened, but I want to focus on the recent paintout. More of the other stuff in a later post...
Ein neues Jahr hat angefangen, ich unterrichte 4 verschiedene Faecher im Artists Workshop in NSB, coordiniere die Sessions mit Modell, ging auf einen tollen Business Trip nach New York City mit Austin, und entwickele meinen Tuschezeichnen-Stil weiter. So viel ist passiert, aber ich will hier nur ueber den Paintout berichten, mehr ueber alles andere in der nahen Zukunft...

25 artists gathered at the Wekiwa Springs State Park by Apopka last week to paint the varying scenes. The park has beautiful forests with dark slender pine trees growing between golden fields of long grasses, down the road the crystal-clear waters of the bubbling spring creates a wonderful swimming spot, and Wekiva Island, the bar and fun spot of the Weinaug's who coordinate and sponsor the event, has tall greenery framing the clear Wekiwa river full of turtles, gators, and various birds.
25 Kuenstler versammelten sich letzte Woche fuer 7 Tage im Wekiwa Springs State Park in Zentral-Florida, um die verschiedenen Szenen zu malen. Der Park hat einen tollen Wald mit schlanken, dunklen Tannen, die in Feldern von goldenen Graesern wachsen, ein paar Schritte entfernt sprudelt kristallklares Wasser des Wekiwas aus dem Boden, um einen tollen natuerlichen Swimmingpool zu bilden, und Wekiva Island, die Bar und Vergnuegungsplatz der Weinaug's, die den Paintout organisieren, hat gruene Baeume und Wasserrosen, die den klaren WekiwaFluss rahmen, wo Schildkroeten, Alligators and zahlreiche Voegel leben.

We painted day and night, had great food, lots of sales, and wonderful companionship with the artists who all bunked at the State Park. So much fun!
Wir malen Tag und Nacht, hatten tolles Essen, etliche Verkauefe, und grossartige Gesellschaft mit den Kuenstlern, die alle in den Huetten im State Park untergebracht waren. So viel Spass!

Several afternoons some of us got together and did portrait sessions, forming the "informal" Wekiva Portrait Society ;-)  All the "foreigners" of our artist group were painting portraits, our sitters were American. So we had China (Hai-Ou), Ukraine (Olena), Russia (Natalia), Israel (Orit), and Germany (me) at every sitting. It was great to see how everybody approached the portrait differently - I tried watercolors and it was very difficult but satisfying to work with.
Einige Nachmittage versammelten sich einige von uns, um Portraits zu malen. Wir gruendeten die informelle "Wekiva Portrait Gesellschaft". Alle Fremdgeborenen der Kuenstler malten Portraits, waehrend die Modelle Amerikaner waren. Wir hatten China (Hai-Ou), Ukraine (Olena), Russia (Natalia), Israel (Orit), and Germany (ich) in jeder Stunde. Es war echt interessant zu sehen, wie jeder ein Portrait anders anfing - ich versuchte einige in Aquarell, was sehr schwer ist, doch ich war ziemlich zufrieden mit meinen Gemaelden.

Here are my paintings of the week: I did some in oil (traditional brushes and thick impasto with palette knife), and then introduced my pen and ink with wash, which received great feedback.
Hier sind meine Gemaelde der Woche: Ich malte einige in Oel (traditionell mit Pinseln, und einige mit dickem Impasto mit dem Palettenmesser), und stellte dann auch meine Tuschezeichnungen mit Aquarell vor, was guten Feedback bekam.

9th Annual New Smyrna Beach Paintout Oct 2019

Me again! Ich schon wieder!
The 9th Annual NSB Plein Air Paintout commenced in late October, and I finally have time to write about it! It was very successful for everybody.
I was the cover artist, so the painting from last year that was picked for the cover was displayed everywhere... on brochures, schedules, posters, and those gigantic banners throughout town! How cool....
Der 9. Jaehrliche New Smyrna Beach Plein Air Paintout war im Oktober, und nun habe ich endlich Zeit, darueber zu schreiben. Es war ein erfolgreicher Event.
Ich war die Hauptkuenstlerin/Cover Artist, und deswegen war mein Gemaelde, das letztes Jahr fuer das Hauptbild gewaehlt wurde, ueberall zu sehen.... auf Broschueren, Posters, und diese riesigen Flaggen, die an etlichen Stellen in der Stadt aufgestellt waren. So toll!

We had 23 artists participating, most from Florida, but also out of state. We all know each other and it's great to get together for such a wonderful event and see old friends to paint with. I discovered that I have participated every year since the first event in 2011!

Wir hatten 23 Kuenstler, die meisten von Florida, die an dem Event teilnahmen. Da es schon das 9. Jahr ist, kennen sich die meisten, und fanden es supertoll, mit alten Freunden wieder zu malen. Ich fand heraus, dass ich seit dem ersten Event in 2011 jedes Jahr wieder eingeladen wurde und mitgemacht habe!

We had pretty good weather, but it was very humid on most mornings. The wet room/gallery was at our Artists Workshop where I teach and volunteer, right behind Marine Discovery Center. Both groups organized the event and benefitted from the proceeds for their various fundraising and community events - a great cause.

Wir hatten ziemlich gutes Wetter, jedoch war es am Morgen immer sehr sehr schwuel. Die Gallerie, wo die (noch nassen) Gemaelde aufgehaengt wurden, war im Artists Workshop, wo ich viel Freiwilligenarbeit mache und auch unterrichte, gleich hinter dem Marine Discovery Center. Beide Gruppen organisierten den Event und bekamen dann den Profit zu fuer ihre eigenen Events in der Gemeinde - immer eine gute Sache. Die Kuenstler bekommen, wie immer, 50% der Verkaeufe. Im Durchschnitt werden Bilder so zw. $300 und $1000 verkauft.

Since I was the cover artist, I was interviewed by the local newspaper and you can click here to see part of this interview on youtube. In addition I was included in 2 newspapers in their printed articles!

Da ich das Covergirl war, wurde ich von einer der lokalen Zeitungen interviewt, und hier koennt ihr klicken, um ein Teil meines Interviews als Video zu sehen. Ausserdem waren dann zwei Photos und ein grosser Artikel von mir in 2 Zeitungen!

Painting was fun, and I did a couple of switches to Pen and Ink artwork which was very well received by my fellow artists and the public. I sold almost all the paintings on my wall!

Das taegliche Malen machte Spass, und ich malte dieses Mal nicht nur in Oel, sondern ein paar mit der Tuschezeichnung und Aquarellwasch drueber, was sehr gut angekommen ist. Fast alle meine Gemaelde auf meiner Wand fanden einen Kaeufer!

We had evening paintouts, a sunset gathering where the public could see us all in action at JB's Fishcamp, and several other new events. For the sponsors and patrons we had a private event where 5 selected artists did a progressive painting in a little over 1 hour, that was then auctioned off by the very talented Emcee (and fellow artist) Michelle Held. Natalia Andreeva started the underpainting, then Joe Palmerio took over on the sky, I did a bit of the boardwalk and railings, then Charles Dickinson on the greenery, and Manon Sander finished it off! The reference photo was graciously supplied by a local photographer who was honored to see it painted live! The resulting 22"x28" oil painting fetched $1000 in a raucous auction before it was even finished!

Wir hatten ein paar tolle Festivitaeten, wo das Publikum zuschauen konnte. Ein paar Maltreffen am Abend, und eines an einem Restaurant am Fluss, wo wir dann den Sonnenuntergang malten. Fuer die Sponsoren hatten wir einen privaten Abend, wo unter anderem 5 ausgewaehlte Kuenstler ein progressives Gemaelde in einer knappen Stunde malten. Natalia fing an (malte es eigentlich fast fertig haha), dann malte Joe hauptsaechlich den Himmel, ich malte den Boardwalk und die architukturalen Dinge, dann Charles die Planzen und Baeume, und Manon trug dann die letzten tollen Tuepfelchen auf! Michelle unterhielt das Publikum mit Witzen und Tatsachen, und half, das fertige Gemaelde fuer $1000 in der Auktion unter den Mann zu bringen.

The event also hosted one or two demos each day, where the public was invited to sit and watch, learn and ask questions. Michelle Held started off the week with her demo on painting a live owl that was sitting very patiently for her. I was in the audience and did a quick pen and ink sketch of the scene.

Waehrend der Woche hatten wir auch ein paar Demonstrationen, wo das Publikum eingeladen war, mitzusitzen und Fragen zu stellen. Michelle Held fing mit einer tollen Demo an, wo sie eine lebendinge Eule in Oel malte. Ich war auch im Publikum und zeichnete die Szene, die dann gleich am naechsten Tag einen Kaeufer fand.

My demo on how to do a value study and what and how to edit an overwhelming scene on location was well received, I had over 30 people in the audience! I love doing demos and got great feedback on my teaching. There was also a photo of me in the newspaper.

Ich durfte auch eine Demo machen, ich erklaerte und zeigte, wie man eine Studie zeichnet, wenn man draussen vor einer Szene steht, die viel zu viel beinhaltet. Ich hatte ueber 30 Leute im Publikum! Ich demonstriere und erklaere gerne, und ich bekam viel positiven Feedback danach. Austin filmte mich, und ein Bild von mir in action kam dann auch in die Zeitung.

On the last Saturday we held a community quickdraw, where amateur artists could try their hand on a timed event (2 hours only) and enter the resulting painting in a competition for prizes. I was one of the judges and there was some really great artwork! Event the ones who didn't win had fun and I think everybody found respect for the plein air artists, who really have only 2-3 hours to do a painting (as the sun moves drastically in that time frame and changes the whole scene).

Am letzten Tag (Samstag) fand der Gemeinde-Quickdraw statt, wo sich lokale Hobbymaler daran machen konnten, in genau 2 Stunden eine Szene in einem Park zu malen. Wir hatten 4 Juroren, wo ich auch eine war, und es waren einige ausgezeichnete Gemaelde darunter. Selbst die Maler, die nichts gewannen, hatten Spass und konnten sehen, wie schwer es eigentlich ist, draussen in einem knappen Zeitraum was schoenes zu produzieren. So wie wir 23 Kuenstler es die ganze Woche machten, denn die Sonne steht ja in 2 Stunden total woanders, und das aendert die Szene dann sehr.

The grand finale was on Saturday evening at our studios that looked simply awesome, transformed into a high-caliber gallery! There was a great buffet, wine and drinks, live music, and lots of sales! My painting that was bought last year by MDC and was the cover art was auctioned off and fetched a great price for the event!
Das grosse Finale war dann am Samstag Abend in unseren Studios/Galerie, die echt toll aussah mit all den schoenen Bildern und  begeisterten Leuten und Kuenstlern. Es gab ein tolles Buffet, Wein und Live Musik, und ein Haufen Kaeufe! Mein Gemaelde, das ueberall zu sehen war und letztes Jahr von MDC gekauft wurde, wurde nochmal versteigert und brachte wieder viel Geld ein!

Forgotten Coast en Plein Air Paintout 2019!

Hello and Hallo!
I am back home from one of the best painting weeks of my art career! I can't wait to tell you all about it. So sit tight, it's gonna be a long read!
Ich bin nun wieder daheim nach einer der besten Kunstwochen in meiner Kunstkarriere! Ich kann es nicht erwarten, Euch alles zu erzaehlen. Also, macht es Euch bequem, denn dies wird ein bisschen lang!

I was excited that I was invited for a second time to teach private lessons in Plein Air painting as an ambassador during the famous Paintout at Forgotten Coast in the panhandle of Florida.
As many of you may remember, this area was hit very hard by Hurricane Michael in Oct 2018. Having been to the area in May 2018 for the first time, it was terrible to see landmarks gone, deserted concrete pads without houses, and debris hanging in the branches of trees. The area is still recovering, and it is a tribute to the spirit of mankind to keep events like this going while still cleaning up or looking for proper housing.
Es war eine grosse Ehre, dass ich das 2. Mal als Ambassador zum beruehmten Paintout Fest in der Forgotten Coast im Nordwesten von Florida eingeladen wurde. Es wurde ja bestimmt auch bei Euch in Deutschland gezeigt, wie der Hurrikan Michael im Oktober letzten Jahres genau in dieser Gegend gewuetet hatte. Da ich zum ersten Mal im Mai 2018 dort war, kannte ich nun die Gegend, und es war sehr ernuechternd, Restaurants und Kirchen zerstoert zu sehen, zwischendurch einsame Fundamente ohne Haeuser und viel Abfall und Truemmerstuecke in den Kronen der gebrochenen Baeume. Die Gegend ist noch viel beim Aufrauemen und Wiederaufbauen, doch ist es toll, dass ein Event wie dieses immer noch zusammenkommt, selbst wenn viele der Bewohner nicht mal ein gutes Dach ueberm Kopf haben.

I stopped for a couple of hours in Tallahassee on my 6-hour drive to Port St. Joe to visit my friend and fellow artist Natalia Andreeva in her studio there. We talked art and life before I had to leave to get to my host house at Forgotten Coast.
Auf meiner 6-stuendigen Fahrt nach Port St. Joe stoppte ich in Tallahassee und besuchte meine Malfreundin Natalia Andreeva in ihrem Studio dort. We diskutierten Kunst und Leben allgemein, bis ich dann endlich weiterfahren musste.

My hosts Marcy and Rich who are very involved in the local art community welcomed me with a great dinner and some good conversation.
Meine Gastgeber Marcy und Rich beteiligen sich sehr in der Kunstgemeinschaft, und sie hiessen mich mit einem tollen Abendessen und guter Konversation willkommen.

The first morning I met up with my paintings friends Cathy Berse, also from New Smyrna Beach, and Michelle Held from Sarasota. We wanted to paint the sunset, but after meeting in the dark at 6:30am (crazy!) we were offered coffee and got talking, so we missed it! We still painted at the beach til 11am, then walked around Apalachicola to view some of the old shotgun houses, and I painted a small street scene right at the wet room in down town.
An meinem ersten Tag traf ich mich mit meinen Malfreundinnen Cathy Berse, auch von New Smyrna Beach, und Michelle Held von Sarasota. Wir wollten eigentlich den Sonnenaufgang malen, doch nachdem wir uns "mitten in der Nacht" um 6:30 am Strand trafen, und jemand uns Kaffee brachte, schwatzten wir endlos und verpassten die Sonne. Wir blieben jedoch am Strand bis 11 Uhr und malten unsere Szenen, spazierten dann ein bisschen in Apalachicola herum, und am Nachmittag malte ich eine kleine Strassenszene direkt neben unserer Galerie.

Every evening we would all meet up for some oysters, art talk and fun, but towards the weekend, there were receptions and galas every evening where we met with the other artists, patrons, volunteers and sponsors formally.
Jeden Abend trafen sich wir Kuenstler informell fuer Austern, Kunstgespraeche und Spass, doch als dann das Wochenende naeher rueckte, kamen dann die formellen Vernissagen, Galas und Demos mit allen anderen Beteiligten.

As an ambassador I was one of 4 artists to teach individual lessons in plein air painting. The event had invited 20 internationally known artists to paint the area and hang their fresh creations each evening for a final gala of over 350 paintings. It was awesome to see this beautiful area through the eyes of so many accomplished artists. We ambassador were honored with a reception too, and were given the opportunity for a little speech.
Als ein Ambassador war ich eine von 4 Kuenstlern, die individuelle 2-stuendige Lektionen in Plein Air Malen durchfuehrten. Der eigentliche Event hat natuerlich 20 international-bekannte Kuenstler, die ihre frischen Kreationen gleich aufhaengen, und am Schluss gab es dann ueber 350 Gemaelde zu bewundern und kaufen. Es war ruehrend, diese schoene Gegend durch die Augen von so vielen guten Malern zu sehen. Wir Ambassadors hatten auch eine formelle Gala, wo wir auch ein bisschen ueber uns reden durften.

On my first teaching day I found a couple of hours to paint a really cool shrimp boat in Carabelle. It turned out great, and throughout the week I found that it was a popular subject. Here is the "Ichiban" in various lighting situations done by some of the artists.
An meinem ersten Lehrtag hatte ich ein paar Stunden frei, und fand ein wirklich tolles Shrimpschiff in Carabelle. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit meinem kleinen Gemaelde, und fand dann heraus, dass das Schiff ein beliebtes Motiv war. Hier ist die "Ichiban" in verschiedenen Lichtsituationen von verschiedenen Malern. Sehr interessant.

On my way home I stopped at one of the many bends in the road and tried to capture the fading light. This painting sold on the last day!
Auf dem Heimweg stoppte ich in einer der vielen Kurven der Strasse und versuchte, das daemmernde Licht einzufangen. Dieses Gemaelde fand einen Kaeufer am letzten Tag!

Unfortunately I didn't get a good photo of it, but you can see it here in the trunk of my car (top left), where we do all our storing, framing and fixing equipment.
Leider schoss ich kein gutes Photo von dem Gemaelde, aber ihr koennt es oben links in meinem Kofferraum sehen, woraus wir Maler leben: zum Lagern, zum Rahmen und zum Reparieren der Staffeleien!

I was teaching every morning from 9-11am, then after lunch from 1-3pm and again 4-6pm. All those days were full, but very enjoyable. It's always great to meet interesting people eager to learn. I showed them the process of selecting a suitable subject, staying in the shade (even though I got a bad sunburn on my second day myself!), and exploring the best composition by doing a quick pencil sketch with major editing and moving elements around. We then started our painting of various scenes. I was stationed at different locations each day, so I could always keep it fresh.
Jeden Tag hatte ich einen Schueler von 9-11 Uhr, dann nach einem kurzen Mittagessen wieder jemanden von 13-15 Uhr, und dann der letzte 16-18 Uhr. Diese Tage waren wirklich voll mit Arbeit, jedoch auch viel Spass. Alle Schueler waren eifrig beim lernen. Ich zeigte ihnen den Prozess, der draussen ja viel anders ist als im Studio. Eine Szene zu waehlen, im Schatten zu malen (obwohl ich selber mir am 2. Tag einen Sonnenbrand holte!), und dann eine kleine Kompositionsskizze anzufertigen. Danach fingen wir mit dem Malen an, obwohl ich mich auf den Wert der gut-ausgedachten Skizze konzentrierte. Jeden Tag war ich in einer anderen Gegend stationiert, so dass es nicht langweilig wurde.

So wurden unsere Malstationen angezeigt. Ein grosses Schild mit unserem Namen, so dass uns die Schueler finden konnten.

On the second day I had some free time in the afternoon and lots of painting friends met up with us at the Millpond in Apalachicola. We spotted a fisherman directly in front of us and we decided to capture him, Michelle in oils, I in a little pen and ink sketch. I talked with him quite extensively and we became good friends. Oscar was quite honored to be our model. I ended up gifting him my sketch and he was just over the moon. He had grown up in the area, and moved back here after a couple of years in Louisiana. Now retired, he's relaxing by fishing. At the end of our session he hooked a gar fish that was about 2-3 feet with lots of teeth! All us girls had quite a squeamish time with the fish flopping around on the deck! I never laughed so much.
Am 2. Tag hatte ich wieder ein paar Stunden am Nachmittag frei, und einige meiner Malfreundinnen kamen vorbei, um zusammen in Apalachicola zu malen. Ein Angler sass direkt in unserem Augenwinkel, und wir entschlossen uns, ihn zu malen, Michelle in Oel, ich mit Tusche und Aquarell in meinem Skizzenbuch. Ich fuehrte ein paar Gespraeche mit ihm, und wir wurden gute Freunde. Oscar war total geehrt, dass wir ihn als Modell ausgewaehlt hatten. Am Schluss schenkte ich ihm meine Skizze, was er fast nicht glauben konnte. Bevor wir unsere Malsachen einpackten, fing er einen metergrossen Hornhecht und wir Malerinnen schrien, als der Fisch da auf dem Dock herumglitt und seine Zaehne zeigte. Ich habe schon lange nicht mehr so gelacht.

I had time to do 2 other quick pen and ink sketches at the Millpond. Those shrimp boats are just the best subject with their interesting lines and great texture of rust, peeling paint and lettering.
Ich zeichnete noch kurz 2 andere Szenen dort am Millpond, wo alle Schrimpschiffe ankern. Diese Schiffe sind so ein tolles Motiv, mit ihren interessanten Linien und tollen Texturen von Rost, abblaetternde Farbe und Namensschriften.

The event came to an end with a festive reception on Saturday evening, where the ambassadors were allowed to hang two small paintings each, surrounded by all the other great art. Paintings were sold like crazy which is good as half of the sale goes toward rebuilding the area, and there was so much to see and nice people to talk to! I got into a lot of conversations with lots of the invited artists and learned quite a bit.
Der Event wurde mit einer tollen Gala am Samstagabend abgeschlossen, wo wir Ambassadoren 2 unserer kleinen Gemaelde mit den anderen eingeladenen Malern haengen konnte. Kunstwerke wurden rechts und links gekauft, wofuer 50% des Erloeses der Gegend und dem Wiederaufbau zukommt. Ich sprach und lernte viel von den bekannten Kuenstlern.

On Sunday the event ended in the early afternoon with many of the invited artists painting impromptu demos in front of their walls in the gallery. That was a very special treat! It was so hard to leave after this full immersion into art and friendships.
Am Sonntagnachmittag war dann alles vorbei, nachdem fast alle Kuenstler eine impromptu Malstunde vor ihrer Wand hielten. Das war echt toll, allen zusehen zu koennen. Es war sehr schwierig, nach dieser vollen Kunstwoche Tschuess zu sagen.
