Finally, after our last Europe trip in Sept 2019, we made it there again this May 2022. Stupid Covid...
Im May 2022 konnten wir nun endlich wieder nach Europa seit unserem letzten Besuch dort im Sept 2019. Doofer Covid...
We flew into Frankfurt, drove into Luxembourg where we traversed the ENTIRE country twice (it only takes an hour from top to bottom), then went along the most beautiful Alsace region of France that's bordering Germany (so you get the best of France and Germany - think timberframed houses in cute villages nestled in the vineyards), and ended up in the Wuerzburg region where most of my family lives.
Wir flogen nach Frankfurt, fuhren nach Luxembourg, wo wir das GANZE Land 2x durchquerten (es dauert nur ca 1 stunde von oben nach unten), besuchten dann das Elsass, und landeten dann in Wuerzburg, wo meine Familie wohnt.
The first week the region experienced an unusual heat wave, it was up to 90F - and nobody has air-conditioning! Hard to sleep at night. But so beautiful during the day! The last week was a bit more bearable with temps in the 70s.
In der esten Woche erlebten wir die ungewoehnliche Hitzewelle, wo es an die 30 Grad war - und niemand hat Air Conditioning! Es war schwer, nachts einzuschlafen. Doch die Tage waren dann nochmal so schoen. Die letzte Woche war es dann angenehmer mit 17-20C.
We had a rental car this time, and explored a lot of cute villages. I filled a whole sketchbook this time! Almost 30 pages!
Diesesmal mieteten wir ein Auto, und konnten somit viele schnuckelige Doerfer auskundschaften. Ich fuellte ein ganzes Skizzenbuch dieses Jahr, fast 30 Seiten!

Luxembourg has a beautiful capital. All public transportation is free. The whole country is beautiful. Everybody speaks at least 3 languages (German, French, Englisch, Luxembourgerisch and others).
Luxembourg City is echt schoen. Alle oeffentlichen Verkehrsmittel sind umsonst. Das ganze Land hat uns echt angetan, und jeder spricht mindestens 3 Sprachen, wenn nicht noch mehr. Ich konnte sogar das Luxembourgerisch einigermassen verstehen, wenn man langsam sprach.

Auf dem Weg raus aus Luxembourg hielten wir fuer ein paar Stunden in Nancy, Frankreich, was sehr huebsch war.
We went on toward Colmar, France, which must be the most picturesque village in the whole world!
We had an apartment right downtown in one of the timberframe houses (built 1549).
Dann fuhren wir nach Colmar, Frankreich, was eine der huebschesten Staedte in der ganzen Welt sein muss! Wir uebernachteten in einer Wohnung in der schnuckeligen Stadtmitte in einem Fachwerkhaus das 1549 gebaut worden war!
