Local church sketch

This week the Plein Air group met in New Smyrna Beach at the Old St. Rita Colored Mission Church, which is also a museum highlighting the lives of local black families. The weather was great and we had a good turnout. Contrary to most plein air sessions 7 out of 8 of us did some water medium like watercolor or gouache, mostly plein air painters use oils. I also brought my sketch book and the small gouache set I had used in Europe, and did the church as a medium-sized sketch.
Diese Woche trafen sich die woechentlichen Maler in New Smyrna Beach bei der alten St. Rita Kirche fuer Schwarze, die nun ein  Museum ist. Das Wetter war wie immer super, und wir hatten 8 Maler, die meisten malten in einem Wassermedium, obwohl alle meistens in Oel draussen malen. Ich hatte auch meinen Skizzenblock dabei und meine kleinen Gouachefarben von Europa.

It was very nice to draw, you all know that I love architectural pieces. So this was a great subject for me. Towards the end the young lady who manned the museum that day invited us in, and also took our photo for the museum's facebook page here.
Die Kirche machte ein fabelhaftes Motiv, da ich ja sowieso architekturale Szenen mag, wie Ihr wisst. Gegen Ende kam eine junge Dame vorbei, die an dem Tag Museumsdienst hatte, und sie lud uns fuer eine kleine Tour ein, und schoss ein Gruppenphoto fuer ihre Facebook Seite hier.
