Plein Air as preparation for BIG event!

Hello again,
I painted a lot these past weeks, as preparation for the WINTER PARK PAINT OUT! It is starting tomorrow, and some high-caliber artists are painting there for one week. And I was juried in! So I figured I will practice a lot, especially with my wild underpaintings.

Die letzten paar Wochen habe ich viel gemalt, da ich mich fuer den WINTER PARK PAINT OUT fertigmachen musste! Der Event faengt morgen nachmittag an, und einige SEHR angesehene Kuenstler werden dort fuer eine Woche land malen. Und ich wurde auch ausgewaehlt, um mitzumachen! Deswegen dachte ich, ich sollte viel ueben in den letzten Wochen, vor allem mit meiner neuen "wilden Akryl-Untermalung".

Here is another one from last week. Our Tuesday group met in Deland at the rural and absolutely cute Amtrak railway station. The weather was perfect, and here is my resulting painting (it's the backside of the train station and the parking lot, I left out the cars):
Hier ist ein Gemaelde von letzter Woche. Unsere Dienstagsgruppe traf sich an einem sehr laendlichen und rustikalen Bahnsteig in Deland, wo der Amtrak Zug anhaelt. Das Wetter war toll, und hier ist mein fertiges Gemaelde (es ist die Rueckseite der Bahnstaette, und der Parkplatz, wo ich natuerlich die Autos wegliess):

Below are my steps. When I was almost done, I realized that I had paid no attention to the sun in my painting, and had treated the palm trees next to the building all wrong. You can see it in the lower left step: The trunks are lit from the right (like everything else in the painting), but main ball of foliage of these palms are lit from the left! I thought I went crazy! So I scraped most of the fronds off, and corrected the greens.

When I got home, I painted a bit more sand over the large red area in the foreground, I thought that was a bit much, and added a cloud to the right.

Hier meine Malschritte. Als ich fast fertig war, merkte ich, dass ich die Sonne in meinem Gemaelde ueberhaupt nicht richtig beachtet hatte und die Palmen beim Gebauede waren total falsch! Ihr koennt es in dem Schritt unten links sehen: Die Palmstaemme sind, wie alle anderen Elemente im Gemaelde, von rechts belichtet, doch die Palmenblaetter bekommen ihr Licht von links! Auweia! Ich konnte es gar nicht glauben, dass ich so einen Fehler gemacht hatte! Ich kratzte die Oelfarben von den Blaettern weg, und malte dann die richtigen Gruenen drueber.

Als ich daheim war, malte ich mehr Sand in den Vordergrund, da ich den roten Strich ein bisschen zu ueberwaeltigend fand, und fuegte eine Wolke rechts hinzu.

I will be posting MANY pictures and paintings in the following week, as I plan on painting about 2 paintings a day, for 5-6 days straight! In beautiful Winter Park! Here is a schedule of demos, if you can visit, please do so, they are all GREAT artists! In addition the 25 artists will all paint every morning and afternoon, and sometimes even in the evening. So you can expect about 250-350 great paintings by the end of the week on Saturday, all depicting this great area of Orlando!
Ich werde VIEL zu berichten haben in der naechsten Woche, da ja viel geplant ist, und ich vorhabe, 2 Gemaelde pro Tag anzufertigen, fuer 5-6 Tage! In der wunderschoenen Stadt Winter Park! Unten eine Liste von Demonstrationen, die angeboten werden. Und natuerlich malen alle 25 Kuenstler jeden Morgen und Nachmittag (und manchmal abends). Da werden also gut 250-350 Gemaelde in einer Woche angefertigt, alle die tolle Gegend und Stadt zeigend.
